Course Description

Multicultural Literature will allow students to have the opportunity to deeply analyze and grapple with complex texts and ideas in a shared setting. This course will utilize classic and contemporary literary works representing a variety of cultures and races, encourage students to see their own culture from another culture’s point of view, and foster critical and deep discussions for rigorous written responses (essays) that cultivate deep critical thinking. This course will allow students to take a closer look at their identities and how those impact the world we live in. Independently, students will be partaking in an independent reading unit, where they can exercise their personal interests to find the text that is best fit for them. The purpose of the independent reading unit is to build our love for literature and engage with reading.
